About Me

My name is Katie and I set up KA ceramics in April 2021. I had started pottery lessons in 2017 and instantly loved it, finding it very relaxing and therapeutic. I had quite a stressful job in management as a veterinary nurse and found that it was the only thing that could help me switch off, as you can only concentrate on the clay. When covid hit & lessons were halted, I realised that I was constantly thinking of pottery, and what I could be making and creating. After much research, my little log cabin studio was built in our Oxfordshire garden, and my journey has begun on my own. It is very much a small business, everything is done by me by hand, and pottery is fit around my full time job working night shifts. I will often finish a shift and head straight to the studio for a few hours to make some pieces, before heading to bed!

Friends & family had long been asking to buy pieces and eventually I felt confident enough in my work to start selling. Some of my work is also available at Elsewhere Salon, Wantage and at Tribe Zero-Waste in Faringdon.

So pleased with this beautiful plant pot Katie made for me in memory of Bombay, to go in her favourite window where she always sat. The perfect way to remember her.

If you’re looking for a lovely bespoke, one-of-a-kind present, please take a look at Katie’s instagram page.

How to make an order

Please email me or DM on instagram to discuss the choice of products – or visit my etsy shop.

Care of pottery

All pieces are fired to vitrification in the kiln, to 1200 degrees. To retain the longevity and quality of your piece, it is recommended to hand wash only and not use the dishwasher. Wash in warm soapy water with a soft sponge and avoid abrasive and harsh cleaners. Pieces should not be microwaved. Extremes of hot or cold temperatures could cause the piece to crack.

KA ceramics have partnered with Just One Tree to plant a tree for every candle sold.

JUST ONE Tree is a non-profit initiative removing CO2 from the atmosphere and reversing biodiversity loss through global reforestation. They plant trees in areas severely affected by deforestation to maximise the effect on reducing global warming. In the process they help to provide agricultural education and sustainable incomes to local communities.

But they don’t stop there. JUST ONE Tree concentrates on restoring the entire ecosystem by planting on land and in the oceans, and they also focus on helping to shape the next generation of planet-conscious thinkers by bringing environmental education into the classrooms with lesson plans and JUST ONE Tree Day.
